Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh, has died peacefully aged 99.

Buckingham Palace: April 9th 2021.

It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

A statement issued by the palace just after midday spoke of the Queen's "deep sorrow" following his death at Windsor Castle on Friday morning. The Duke of Edinburgh is the longest-serving royal consort in British history and was married to Her Majesty, The Queen for over 70years.

The flags at Buckingham Palace and other official buildings were lowered to half-mast and a notice was posted on the Palace gates to mark the duke's death.

Many here in the Norland ward join with the Mayor of The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea to pay their respects and condolences to The Queen and to The Royal Family and join with people around the world in mourning his loss.

The Royal Family has asked that people consider making a donation to a charity instead of leaving flowers in memory of the duke. An online book of condolence has been launched on the official royal website for those who wish to send messages. Here is the LINK
