Fancy a country jaunt not too far away? The Chiltern Heritage Trail is the answer
Couldn’t wait to get out from the smoke and delight in the blossom and blue skies. We headed out on the M40 … direction Chilterns. Not too far. Not too crowded. A couple of great outdoor pubs and nice circular walks about 1-2 hrs long.
We were recommend the Heritage Trail as the base. Although it is a 52 mile circular route it can be split into easy walkable segments some of which cross over the Chiltern Way. Along the route are historic sights, beautiful meadows, the river Chess, lots of horses and lovely lambs.
The Trail was originally established as a millennium project by Chiltern District Council, with the help of The Ramblers Club. It is well maintained, easy, flat and very picturesque. Best of all you can still get back in time for tea.
