Post carnival clean up

Post carnival clean up

Street clearers Suez were busy clearing up after the Carnival at 11pm to remove over 300 tonnes of rubbish.  Sunday and Monday night saw around 200 SUEZ staff members head out with a fleet of 30 refuse trucks, mechanical sweepers and a large water flushing vehicle to clear and wash down the streets.

The bulk of it was finished just after 4.30am and Suez have until the evening of Thursday 30th August to bring the carnival area back up to the standards it was prior to Carnival.  Extra resources have been committed for the rest of the week to facilitate a speedy return to normal on top of the basement cleansing service that is offered.

The Council offers a free cleaning service for residents, whose front garden and basements that have been affected during Carnival, where Carnival-related activity or street trading has not taken place over the event weekend. Officers from the Council will be checking addresses during Carnival and recording details of any such activity.

Please note, this is a registration-only service and residents who are eligible and wish to apply will need to do so on or before Thursday 6th September.

If you are requesting a deep clean of a basement that does not contain Carnival related rubbish, a fee is payable as follows: £25 per basement for a basic sweep and litter clearance, and £70 with a pressure wash.

Please contact the Streetline Team for these services on 020 7361 3001.
