Music cheer for Clarendon Cross

Music cheer for Clarendon Cross

Ever since Norlander's daily lives were disrupted and sometimes shattered by the Covid-19 crisis, Geoff Lu has been boosting moods and flipping on people’s happy switches by playing beautiful piano tunes from his open window at Clarendon Cross, every Saturday at 11am.

Lu and his wife, Misun, have enjoyed a life of travel. Having studied at the Oberlin conservatory as a piano performance major, Lu moved to New York University and on from there to gain an MBa from the University of Chicago. From there his work has taken them from Greenwich, CT, to York, PA, to six years in Brasil, five in Paris, and the last eight years here in Norland working outside London with a packaging company.

Lu says he is happy with the audience he has had from his piano concerts. “I was amazed by the response,” says Lu, who is sometimes joined by other musicians for the Saturday performances.

Some people arrive with folding chairs and coffee and biscuits, but now Julie’s has reopened [check] you can sit and have a street-side coffee and enjoy some beautiful Mozart or Chopin.
